NEWS

Why Croatia

The Mediterranean as it used to be...
...before the developers came in and wrecked everything. You have walled cities instead of a wall of condos, local markets instead of souvenir shops, fresh locally caught fish instead of fast food.

A Long Splendid Coast
A solid 1778km (1102mi) of Adriatic coast winds around innumerable bays, inlets and coves. Add in the 1185 islands and you're talking a whopping 6000km (3720mi) of seafront. If you can't find the beach of your dreams here, it probably doesn't exist.

Good value for money
While costs have risen considerably over the last five years, Croatia still compares favorably with other EU countries on the Mediterranean, especially for meals and private accommodation.

Unspoiled nature
Clean air, clean water and plenty of meadows, forested mountains, lakes and rivers to explore are the legacy of a relatively under-industrialised country.

Easygoing people
"Nema problema" or "no problem" is the prevailing spirit which is part of the reason naturism took off here. Behave yourself and no one will pester you with nit-picking rules.

An exciting blend of cultures
The coast was long part of Italy while the interior was part of the Austro-Hungarian empire. It's convoluted history has produced a taste for both pizza and pastries, classy architecture and Latin exuberance. And when was the last time you saw people dancing with swords?

It's safe
Street crime is rare, assaults on foreigners nearly non-existant and the country untangled itself from Balkan warring in 1995.

Discover Croatian Islands

Our spring reccommendation is Island Ugljan. As you can see on our interaction map Island Ugljan is a part of the archipelago of Zadar (only few NM away from the city of Zadar).

The Island has seven villages and in most of them you can find your accommodation on our web page; Kukljica, Kali, Lukoran, Ugljan. Ugljan is also called the green island, covered with dense bush, pine trees, olive-groves, fig-groves, vineyards.

Stony and sandy beaches, crystal clear sea, different possibilities for accommodation, unique culinary experiences are some of the reasons for visiting this island.

Croatia will temporary suspend visa requirements for some countries in an effort to boost tourism

It is well known fact that Croatia's main tourist markets are Slovenia, Germany, Austria, Italy, Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. However, in recent years the number of tourists from far-off destinations like Russia, Japan or the United States, has considerably risen.

Croatia will suspend the visa regime for Russian and Ukrainian citizens during the tourism season, between May 1 and October 31. in the hope of boosting tourist season.

In addition to the drop of visa requirement for Russians and Ukrainians, the recently adopted action plan permitted older-generation Russian planes to land at Croatia’s airports, which was prohibited until now, in the framework of strict European requirements.

Croatia limits smoking in public places

Although smoking in many public places has been restricted for a few years, starting at the end of 2008, there will be no smoking at all in public places, including bars and cafes (from May 2009.). Smoking will be allowed in open-air terraces and sidewalk cafes.

Fines for violators will range from $170 for patrons to $2,600 for waiters who allow smoking and up to $26,000 for owners.

As for private accommodation in Croatia – most acc. owners will give you permission to smoke in acc. units but please, check with the owner when you are making reservation.
